Dr. Telang founded Alabama Spine and Pain in 2013.  While visiting family in the area, he noticed that there was a need for a specialty-trained physician. Dr. Telang is the Shoals area's only Board Certified and Fellowship Trained Pain Management physician.
 
After completing his medical degree, Dr. Telang attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham to pursue a Master’s of Science in Biomedical Engineering.  Graduating from UAB in 2003, he immediately began his medical residency.
 
In 2007, he completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson.  While at the University of Arizona, Dr. Telang was actively engaged in research in pain management.  Upon completing his residency and becoming Board Certified in Anesthesiology, Dr. Telang went into private practice. 
 
After practicing Anesthesia for five years, Dr. Telang made the decision to pursue a fellowship in Pain Medicine.  As part of his preparation, he was involved in pain research at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.  His experience there was instrumental in his success during his fellowship at Louisiana State University. 
 
His fellowship training provided in-depth knowledge and clinical experience in various aspects of pain management.  These include, but are not limited to, nonsurgical and interventional procedures, behavioral modification therapy, physical and occupational therapy, as well as medication management.
 
Dr. Telang has a special interest in spinal cord stimulation and radiofrequency ablation to effectively treat neck and back pain.   He is a dedicated physician that values each patient as an individual and goes above and beyond to manage pain and improve lives.
